Shoeshine Boy

A boy not more than 10, shines shoes in the back alleyways of Delhi. One can only imagine what his home life must be like, or if he even has one, and what the future holds in store for him. Chances are he receives no schooling, and like the Charles Dickens classic "Oliver Twist", he is forced to give his earnings to a Fagin-like employer.
Children are badly taken advantage of throughout impoverished nations. Some adult beggars even rent babies so as to increase sympathy and thus handouts. Even worse, some children are intentionally maimed by their own parents for the same reason. With sights and stories such as this, what remnants of childhood remain?
