The smile of a child is one of the true universals of life. No matter where you are in the world, if you see a child smile you canít help but smile back. The children of Myanmar seem to be perpetually smiling and are particularly playful and open to meeting foreigners.
Before going out in the harsh tropical sun, mothers rub their childrenís faces with thanakha paste, which is made from the bark of a tree and acts as sunscreen. Nevertheless, their muddled look makes their smiles all the more endearing.
